The Power BI app for HoloLens 2 blends reports with the physical environment to create a 3D, immersive, hands-free experience where the user can move through the physical world and get relevant data when and where they need it.
The app enables frontline workers to make insightful decisions hands-free, using data available to them on demand.

Goals

Provide users with real-time business information in the context of their work through a unique, delightful, immersive experience.

Push the boundaries of the current work environment tools and create a new reality for the end user to interact with technology in order to achieve set goals.

Challenges

Overcome ‘Unity’ (Hololens development platform) limited set of patterns and visualizations to create a fluid, pleasant and innovative experience.

New experiences

A tool-belt for all the reports from which the user can choose items and place them around in space side-by-side.

Navigation between report pages through the page index on the side of the report.

Persisted location of the reports in space utilizing HoloLens 2’s anchoring system. The user can revisit the same place later and find items in the same place.

The Power BI welcome experience for HoloLens 2 infuses the user’s surroundings with animated visualizations and reports and blends them with the physical environment to create a 3D immersive experience and open the mind to the possibilities ahead.

Goals

Entice the users and immerse them in an Augmented Reality experience while loading their personal data at the background.
Set the ground for the experience to come and build anticipation.
